My name is Justin Jacobs. I was born at my grandmother’s house in Oregon. It was December and there was a bad snowstorm, and my parents (in route) couldn’t make it to the hospital. There was no time and since my grandma and mom were EMTs they were comfortable (not much of a choice) to deliver me at my grandma’s. That is how I got my middle name Justin Tyme Jacobs. My dad had a sense of humor – they got there just in time.
I grew up in the Oregon community and went through the Oregon school system. I unfortunately didn’t take school seriously. Like most other kids (I believe), school was more about seeing your friends. I played sports in school (football, baseball, track). I grew up with many other kids in my church my age or around my age going through the school system as well. I was a youth leader in our church and took it seriously. I knew I had to lead by example.
A big change in my life happened during my 8th grade summer break. My parents, with the guidance of my pastor Kale, set in place that it was time for me to get a strong foundation. I read the Holy Word for three hours a day that summer. I wasn’t a strong reader, so at first, I didn’t like it. After a while, I began to get engrossed and enjoy it, and the time went by quickly. Because of this guidance, I had the strength to stand through temptations and the things that I would soon learn and hear in high school. Even today, I thank my parents and my pastor.
In high school, I got along and was friends with most. I continued to play sports. I was a captain in most sports I played. I didn’t participate in much of the extra-curricular activities that a lot of my friends did, and that was ok. We were all still friends. High school had its challenges for a young man living his life pure before God. There was a lot of temptation and pressure to “fit in” and participate. Because of the Holy Ghost, the guidance of my pastor, my knowledge of the Word of God, and knowing His standard, it gave me the strength to stand as an example in Him. During and after high school many of my close friends in the church decided that they no longer wanted to serve the Lord and thus left the church. I continued my walk with the Lord, attended Rock Valley Community College and played two seasons of football. After those two years, I continued with my college education and football in Michigan.
During the off seasons, I would work with my uncles in construction. After my first semester in Michigan, I got a call from my uncles asking if I would like to go to Hawaii and help them build a home. I talked with my coaches, and I was ready to go to Hawaii for six months. Here I am seventeen years later. We built the home and were ready to move back, but a neighbor met us and asked us to develop his property. It was a 130-acre ranch on the North Shore that was nothing but trees and pastureland. We developed it and built a 13,000 sq/ft home (among other structures). After construction was done, I stayed to manage and work the ranch. I raised, trained, and sold working dogs. I took care of roughly 200 sheep, 13 mini donkeys, a 120+ citrus tree orchard, 20+ bee hives, as well as the land and building maintenance. I also helped the owners of the ranch with a couple of other businesses they had. I loved it.
In 2012 I got married to my lovely wife. We are now the proud parents of three. I started a business in 2018 with a business partner, but had to restart the business in 2019 when things didn’t work out with the partner. My current business partner (Jesus) has made my business very successful. My wife and I now own a home here in Hawaii and are raising our three wonderful children in and for God our Father. I seek out my pastor, Kale, for wisdom and guidance in raising my kids. I have seen the fruit of my life, and the lives of those who have stuck it out and chose to continue to serve the Lord under his pastoring. I can say I am most thankful for my life and where He has taken me today. My Father, my Brother, The Holy Ghost, my pastor, my church family have made me who I am today.
