Seeing that there is a higher realm, how do we start this new walk of a Son? This is certainly a challenging task: to learn to follow the Holy Ghost’s direction 100% of the time. There must be something that God has provided – just as he always has – that will give us the wisdom, guidance and power to overcome this carnal flesh. What does the Scripture say? The Old Testament speaks of him, Jesus sent him, and it is evident in Acts and the Epistles that his power is transformative to all who receive him.
HE WILL LEAD YOU
Into ALL Truth
Jesus says in John, “If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
And again, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
The work of the Holy Ghost is to lead us into All Truth – the deep things of God. By divine wisdom he cleanses and strengthens our conscience; opens up the Word to give to us understanding and direction; moves us in our spirit to love good and hate evil. Thereby, in the fulness of time, his presence and leading – attended to – shall yield the peaceable fruits of righteousness, that we might be acceptable to God in all the ways of Christ.
Furthermore, as a refiner’s fire he works to purge and purify us. Do not be discouraged, for whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Even Jesus learned obedience by the things he suffered. The same work that Jesus had to go through, we have to go through that we might be perfected and learn HOW TO follow the Spirit. It’s not to punish you, but it is to break the will of the flesh, that we can be subject to God and to the Spirit of God at all times.
HIS PERFECT LOVE IS THE WORK OF THE SPIRIT
When we are purged from the flesh and the flesh desires, we will come into the place of abiding in his perfect love. The Spirit will direct us into that. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST
He IS The Answer
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:4-5
ENDUED WITH POWER FROM ON HIGH
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
O the beauty and the wonder of that rushing mighty Wind!
We pray that you ask the Father for the indwelling of his Holy Spirit, that the heavens and his glory be opened unto you even as they were to Paul.
From Acts, And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
And straightway Paul preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
Jesus’ baptism transformed Paul.
He was completely changed. He is not only seeing the Kingdom, but has entered the Kingdom. We read in Corinthians the depths of his spiritual understanding:
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Having read of the importance of the Baptism and the personal, powerful experience of Paul, here are some questions that may come to mind, and the Scriptures which answer them.
Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Luke 3:15-16
And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.
Acts 19:2-6
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And he said unto him, we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Act 10:44-46
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
Isaiah 28:11
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
1 Corinthians 14:21-22
In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
Mark 16:15-18
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Luke 11:11-13
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Acts 2:38-39
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
John 14:15-18
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Acts 19:2-3
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And he said unto him, we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
Ephesians 1:9-14
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: that in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
The minute you receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, God starts a work in you that will put to death the deeds of the flesh: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry, and all such things. The Father also, through the Holy Ghost, gives you power to resist if you make an effort to seek the direction of the Spirit. In the goodness of God the Holy Spirit is given to you – the great Holy Ghost and fire – to burn this old Adamic nature out of us. That is what the Holy Ghost is for.
BLESSED BE THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY GHOST FOR THEIR LOVE, REDEMPTION AND SANCTIFICATION
THE FIRST KINGDOM MAN
Jesus followed the Spirit 100% of the time
Jesus was the first kingdom man, the first man in the kingdom of God while he walked the earth without sin, tempted in all points. He walked out that perfect kingdom man in the earth as an example unto us, showing and proving that a man or a woman of flesh, can walk without sin in the earth. Now we cannot do it unless we are born again, because we are born in sin and only God can get rid of it. We have so little control over this nature that we are born with.
If we will fully obey the voice of the Lord GOD and the Spirit, we will walk on into that perfect kingdom: that restored kingdom of God. We can come into this kingdom and be like Adam was before he sinned. That was God’s original purpose: that we be pure as he is pure. It is sin that caused death in the beginning, and it is the only reason that we cannot fulfill God’s promise to us of living forever. Why? Because the curse of death was brought to us by Adam’s sin. Jesus’ death and resurrection changed everything: he destroyed the curse. He swallowed up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away all tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
Now that ought to make you really strive to live without sin, to correct these bodies, to watch ourselves. And you won’t overcome it overnight. We are not saying that tomorrow you are going to be a perfected son; it’s little by little, as we learn, as we are tempted, and as we put sin down; and as we pray, as we seek God, and as our hearts are honest towards God.
Strive to enter in at the strait gate.
ON THE BAPTISM
Most of the Christian Church believes that the baptism of the Great Commission refers to water baptism. It does not. Jesus’ last words, taken collectively, refer specifically to his baptism: the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
Without the Teacher, the Holy Spirit, you will be limited in your grasp of the Word of God. He guides you into all truth. Hear what the Spirit saith unto all who seek him.
JESUS CHRIST & THE HOLY GHOST
Nothing had worked to conquer man's sinful Adam nature. As God's final attempt to turn the world from sin, he sent his Son. Jesus made the way and the Holy Ghost came.
TRUTH BE TOLD
Jesus is the Light of the world, and All power is in him: His name is above all names. Truth be told, he is the Stone of stumbling and Rock of offence. In HIM we rest.
Love as he loves.
